If you can answer 'yes' to any of these:
No longer able to cope?
At the end of your tether?
Dissatisfied with life in general?
Drug/alcohol/substance abuse?
Worry and stress?
Phobias?
Eating disorders?

"I'm here to help and support you on your journey".

How can I help?
I help you recognise the inter-relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and resultant behaviours.
Most people try to change their lives by trying to change other people, events and circumstances.

Learning to Cope
By adopting two philosophies:-
‘If people are truly to be helped to live happily with each other they first need to be shown how they can live peaceably with themselves’ ‘People are disturbed not by things but by their view of things’

... You give yourself the choice and power to change your perspectives, emotions and behaviour.
Whilst this outlook cannot always change the thing that is upsetting you, it will help you cope with it.

Problems Addressed
I can also guide you and help you tackle more deep-rooted issues and personal trauma

in a caring and non-judgemental way.

No longer able to cope
I’m at the end of my tether / nothing seems to work any more / I just want to run away.

Dissatisfied with life in general
Why me? / Nothing ever seems to go right
/ I want more.

General depression
I feel numb / Life’s not worthwhile / Sad
/ Where has my happiness gone?

Drug/alcohol/substance abuse
I must have it to get through the day / I will enjoy the party more / It’s not harmful,
everyone does it.

Grief
I didn’t say goodbye / The last thing I said was nasty / I don’t want to go on without them /
I wish it had been me / How can I ever be happy again without feeling guilty?

Loss
My job’s gone-how will I cope?
They’ve left me, I can’t stand it on my own.

Self Harming
I feel depressed or angry so I cut / punch
/ burn myself.

Worry and Stress
Too much to do / There’s never enough time
/ I never finish anything.

Panic attacks
I can’t go to work / I can’t face a person or situation / I can’t breathe.

Phobias
Afraid of flying / spiders / heights.

Anxiety
I’m afraid to do this / My heart is pounding
/ I’m having a heart attack.

Shame
I can’t let go of what they did to me
/ What I did to them

Anger
They shouldn’t do that to me
/ I can’t trust them any more
/ I must hit & punch them, shout at them
/ I lose control.

Low self esteem
I don’t like myself / I’m not good enough.

Eating disorders
I’m too fat / thin / wrong shape
/ I make myself sick.

Relationships:-
• Family - I hate my mum / dad / brother
.. / sister.
• Couple - I don’t love my husband / wife
.. / partner any more.
• Peer - I have no friends.
• Children - I don’t seem to get through
.. to them any more.

Bullying
Leave me alone / I’ve had enough
/ Why me? / What’s wrong with me?
/ I’m scared to go out any more.

Guilt
I could have done more / better.

Trauma
I can’t put it behind me / I keep thinking about it / It’s horrible.

Over-react
Logically I know my emotions are preventing me from handling a situation to achieve the outcome I want.

Learning ‘life coping skills’
• to be in control of your life.
• to have better relationships with other
.. people at home, at work and with friends.
• to make the best of your particular
.. situation.
• to be happier with your life.

Teenagers
I have also had considerable experience counselling in a school for 11 to 19 year olds.
This age group has the advantage over adults in that they are used to learning new ideas
and their concepts are less rigid.

However they have particular problem areas such as their relationships and attitudes towards parents, siblings,
peers and teachers; new relationships resulting from broken homes; unfairness and injustice;
bullying; anger and low self esteem.

I can help with preparing life skills to adapt from the educational and parental control environment
to one that is orientated towards independence, work and self-control.

Hypnotherapy
Very often you may know logically (head) that a thought is unhelpful leading to inappropriate behaviours.
But feeling this at a deeper level (heart) contradicts this.

Hypnotherapy is very useful to enable me to bypass your conscious mind and
communicate directly with your subconscious mind. By discovering the blocks that are causing this difference Hypnotherapy can enable what you think to be the same as what you feel.

You are always aware of your surroundings and in control. Similar to when you are driving
(automatic complete control) but your thoughts are elsewhere.

Deeper Hypnotherapy is also used for childbirthing (no epidural) and for dentistry and surgery (no anaesthetic).

My Approach
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
This approach links your thoughts about people, events, things or situations with how you react
and behave when you have these thoughts.

Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT)
This approach links your beliefs about people, events, things or situations with your feelings and emotions
about these beliefs which then lead to how you react and behave when you have these feelings.
